This glass lily pipe doubles as a surface skimmer, pulling the top film of water through its slotted intake before it reaches your canister. That oily, protein-rich layer is exactly what blocks gas exchange and dulls the water sheen in a planted tank, so removing it keeps the surface bright and oxygen moving. Available in 13mm and 17mm to match common 12/16 and 16/22 hose sizes used on most canister setups here.

The self-floating design tracks small water-level changes, which is handy in our climate where evaporation runs high and tanks drop noticeably between top-ups. On open-top rimless scapes the clear glass almost disappears, a look many local aquascapers chase. Give it a periodic soak and brush, as biofilm and the occasional snail can gather around the intake slots over time.
