This stainless steel mesh slips over your filter intake to stop small livestock and debris from being drawn in. For anyone keeping shrimp or raising fry, it is close to essential: the fine mesh keeps baby shrimp and tiny fry out of the impeller, where they would otherwise be jammed or shredded. It also catches dead leaves and larger mulm before they reach the impeller and cause tangles or motor strain.

Shrimp keeping is huge in Singapore, and intake protection is the single upgrade we most often add for new shrimp customers. In warm 27-29C water, berried shrimp and fry are active and curious, so an unguarded intake quietly costs you stock every week.
