Jeneca GD 400/500/600 Overhead Filter for Larger Tanks

An overhead (top) filter sits on the rim and trickles water back over media trays, and that exposure to air is a real advantage in Singapore’s warm tanks where oxygen is at a premium. The adjustable length and height on the GD range let it span different tank widths, so one unit fits a variety of common rectangular tanks. With the optional UV-03 add-on you can also tackle green water, which blooms fast under our bright conditions.

These filters give you generous space to layer media: coarse foam for debris, then biological media to grow the bacteria that process fish waste. That biological capacity is the heart of a stable tank, and the open trickle design keeps it well oxygenated. The trade-off is a little splash noise, so set the return flow gently and you will get quiet, effective filtration suited to fish-heavy community tanks.

Rinse mechanical foam in old tank water, never tap, to protect your bacteria. Browse our filtration equipment range, and read our filter media guide and beneficial bacteria guide to load it correctly.
