The XP-36 is a generous XL hang-on-back filter that suits Singapore keepers who want strong mechanical, chemical and biological filtration without giving up cabinet space to a canister. Rated for tanks from roughly 40 to 200 litres at 1200 L/H, it hangs off the rim, leaving the floor of a compact HDB stand free. Its built-in surface skimmer is genuinely useful here, pulling the oily protein film that forms quickly on warm tanks and improving the gas exchange our 27-29C water needs.

The adjustable flow lets you ease output for bettas and other slow-water fish, or open it up for active community tanks. We recommend rinsing the sponges in old tank water, never tap, so you keep the beneficial bacteria that our chloraminated supply would otherwise harm. Stagger media changes rather than swapping everything at once, and prime the chamber after a power cut so it restarts cleanly.
