UP AQUA CA-F-020 Air-Driven Pneumatic Filter

The CA-F-020 is an air-driven pneumatic filter that uses an air pump to create flow, cultivate nitrifying bacteria and lift oxygen all at once. With no electric motor in the water, it is gentle, cheap to run and a favourite among Singapore shrimp and fry keepers who cannot risk a powerhead intake sucking in tiny livestock. The same airflow that drives filtration also boosts gas exchange, which our warm tanks always benefit from.

Because flow is gas-exchange friendly, this style of filter helps keep oxygen up during our hot afternoons when 27-29C water holds less dissolved oxygen. Pair it with a reliable air pump, and seed the sponge or media from a running tank so the bacterial colony establishes fast. We suggest a check valve in the airline so a power cut during the monsoon season cannot back-siphon water into your pump.
