UP Aqua D-779 / D-780 Top Filter Pump for Large Tanks
These return pumps are made to drive top and trickle filter systems on big tanks. The D-779 pushes 40L/min (around 2400L/hr) and suits 5ft setups, while the D-780 steps up to 50L/min (around 3000L/hr) for 5ft and larger. Both include built-in overheat protection that shuts the pump down if it runs too hot and restarts automatically once it cools, a sensible safeguard for a pump running around the clock. Accessories are included to get you connected.
For Singapore keepers running large cichlid, arowana or monster-fish tanks, matching pump flow to the filter and tank is what keeps biological filtration and oxygen levels strong; at 27-29C water holds less dissolved oxygen, so good turnover matters. The auto-restart feature also helps after the brief power blips we sometimes get during monsoon storms. Keep the impeller clean during maintenance so flow doesn’t quietly drop off over months of continuous running.
