Eriocaulon Red as a Singapore foreground accent
Eriocaulon Red is a compact rosette plant that forms tidy, spiky clusters of reddish foliage, perfect for studding the foreground of a detailed nature scape. We rate it as a more advanced choice: it genuinely rewards strong light, CO2, and a rich substrate, and under those conditions it develops its best colour and dense, star-like form. Spaced individually across the front, multiple rosettes create a striking textured carpet rather than a uniform lawn.
This genus is a notable nutrient feeder, particularly fond of micronutrients and rich root zones, so root tabs beneath each plant pay off. Our soft, slightly acidic Singapore tap water suits it once dechlorinated, which is helpful since many Eriocaulon prefer softer conditions. At ambient 27-29C no heater is needed, but stable parameters and clean water matter; sudden swings stress these rosettes and can stall growth in a warm tank.
