How To Safely Add Fish To Tank
- Set live stock aside with transportation bag in room temperature place for 30 minutes.
- Then transfer bag to float in aquarium for another 30 minutes
- Use a fish net to transfer the live stock by scooping it from the bag into the tank.
Note: Do not release live stocks together with the transportation water into tank.
Keeping Wakin goldfish in Singapore conditions
The Wakin is a hardy, single-tailed goldfish with the classic body shape and strong swimming ability, which makes our 3-inch size a good active choice for keepers who find fancy varieties too delicate. Being streamlined, Wakins are fast and a little boisterous, so they suit a longer tank or pond rather than a cramped bowl. They mix best with similarly robust goldfish rather than slow, round-bodied fancies that they tend to out-compete at feeding time.
Goldfish are coldwater fish but tolerate Singapore’s 27-29C ambient well, so a heater is unnecessary here; the bigger challenge is their heavy waste load. We strongly recommend generous filtration and weekly water changes, since goldfish foul water quickly in warm conditions. Give them space, target roughly the largest tank or pond you can fit in your flat or yard, and acclimate new arrivals by floating then slowly mixing tank water in before netting them across, never tipping in transport water.
Browse our live goldfish range, and before adding them read our goldfish care, tank size and feeding guide and notes on compatible goldfish tank mates.
