Running the Odyssea Quad 60cm T5HO Over a Singapore Planted Tank
Four 24W T5HO tubes over a 2-foot tank put you firmly in the medium-to-high light bracket, which is plenty for carpeting plants and stem species but also fast-tracks algae if your photoperiod runs long. In our humid climate we suggest starting at six hours and only extending once the tank is established. The reflectors here matter as much as the bulbs, since they direct output down into the water rather than out into your HDB living room.
Heat is the real local consideration. Four high-output tubes sitting close to the water surface add warmth, and with ambient temperatures already at 27-29C the tank can creep higher during an afternoon. Leave a small air gap, run the lights during cooler evening hours where possible, and watch for any midday spikes. For shrimp or sensitive species, pairing strong T5HO output with good surface agitation helps keep dissolved oxygen up as the water warms.
