Description
An agent for maintaining constant carbonate hardness level in reef aquariums. Accurate level of carbonate hardness is essential for stabilising pH levels. Sudden drop of carbonates concentration in the tank may entirely stop the nitrification process. Recommended level of KH in reef aquaria is 6,5-8,5 dKH.
Dosage: dissolve 80 g of KH Buffer in 1000 ml RODI water. Dosage should be determined by the water tests results and daily corals’ consumption. Before applying KH Buffer solution into the water, it is recommended to run a water test to check current water parameters. Maximum daily dose is 20 ml per 100 litres of water. 20 ml of KH Buffer solution raises KH level in 100 l of water by 0,5 dKH.
The product is also suitable for casual use for one-time KH level raising. 10 g of KH Buffer in 100 l of water raises KH level by about 3,3 dKH (Alk. 1,18 meg/l). We do not recommend raising KH level by more than 0,5 dKH per day. In order to maintain ionic balance Calcium, Magnesium and Reef Mineral Saltshould also be applied. Contains NaHCO3. US: Dissolve 1.28 cups of the product in 1 US gal of deionized water.
Product for aquarium use only. Not suitable for human consumption. Keep away from children.

AF kH Buffer for Stable Alkalinity in SG Reefs
kH Buffer is a dry carbonate buffer for holding alkalinity steady, and alkalinity is arguably the single parameter local reefers should obsess over most. It anchors pH and keeps the nitrification process running, so a sudden swing stresses corals and can stall your biological filtration. The 1200g tub makes up plenty of stock solution, and mixing your own dosing liquid with RODI water gives you precise control over how much you add each day.
For Singapore tanks the practical advice is consistency. With corals calcifying fast at 27-29C, alkalinity gets pulled down steadily, so a small daily dose beats a large weekly correction that jolts the system. Always test before adding, dose into flowing sump water away from corals, and respect the maximum daily limit, since pushing alkalinity up too quickly can burn coral tissue. Pair it with calcium and magnesium dosing so the three move together rather than fighting each other.
This sits in our marine additives range. Read our calcium and magnesium guide and the Balling method reef dosing guide to keep all three major elements balanced as your tank grows.
