How To Safely Add Fish To Tank

  1. Set live stock aside with transportation bag in room temperature place for 30 minutes.
  2. Then transfer bag to float in aquarium for another 30 minutes
  3. Use a fish net to transfer the live stock by scooping it from the bag into the tank.

Note: Do not release live stocks together with the transportation water into tank.

Keeping the Pagoda Snail in Singapore tanks

The Pagoda Snail (Brotia pagodula) is a striking river snail prized for its spiked, fortress-like shell rather than algae duty. In our experience it suits established, well-oxygenated setups with a stable bottom of sand or fine gravel where it can graze biofilm and sift detritus. Singapore’s warm ambient water around 27-29C sits comfortably within its tropical range, so most indoor tanks need no heater to keep this snail active and feeding steadily through the day.

Because it appreciates harder, mineral-rich water, the soft slightly-acidic tap supply common across local flats can leave shells pitted over time. We suggest buffering hardness a touch and topping up calcium so the shell tip stays intact. Pair it with peaceful tetras, rasboras or dwarf shrimp; avoid loaches and pufferfish that target snails. Feed sinking wafers and blanched vegetables, as ornamental snails rarely find enough algae alone in a clean tank.

We stock a steady range of livestock in our tropical fish collection, and our freshwater aquarium snails guide covers compatible species, while the what snails eat guide helps you keep grazers like this one well-fed.
