Using ANS Naturesand Coral Sand Fine in Hard-Water Tanks

Coral Sand is a calcareous fine sand, which means it slowly dissolves to raise hardness and buffer pH upward. That is the opposite of what you want in a soft-water community tank, but exactly right for the fish that need harder water than Singapore’s soft tap supply provides. We recommend it for African cichlid, livebearer, brackish and marine refugium setups where a stable, higher KH keeps the inhabitants comfortable and stops pH crashing.

Sold in 1kg and 5kg packs, you can use it as a full base or mix a portion in to gently lift buffering capacity. Rinse it before use to clear dust, then expect your hardness and pH readings to climb as it works. Because it is reactive, do not pair it with soft-water blackwater fish or sensitive dwarf shrimp that prefer low mineral content and acidic conditions.
