Using ANS NatureSand Rio White Sand in a Planted Tank

Rio White Sand is a bright, fine-grained substrate that gives a clean, open base, the kind of pale floor that makes a small HDB or condo tank feel larger and lighter. The white tone throws fish colours and green planting into sharp relief, which is why it is a staple for minimalist river and iwagumi-style scapes. Sold in 1kg portions for nano builds and 5kg for bigger layouts, you can dose the exact depth your design needs.

As an inert sand it supports root growth and beneficial bacteria once established but does not feed plants on its own, so heavy root feeders will want root tabs underneath. It leaves your soft local water chemistry unchanged. Rinse it thoroughly before use, as pale sands show dust haze the most, and keep flow gentle across the surface so the light grains do not drift into ridges.
