Long service life of the substrate

Master Soil has more plant nutrients (mainly fulvic and humic acids as well as minerals) and naturally regulates the parameters of the water in the aquarium by lowering the value of the pH, GH and KH parameters.
Other than planting, Master Soil substrate can also be used for the breeding of ornamental shrimp and tropical fish. The active substrate Master Soil is manufactured in Japan using the latest technology of multi-stage surface sintering. As a result, the Master Soil substrate has excellent absorption properties, very high porosity, which prevents the formation of anaerobic zones and accelerates the colonization of Master Soil granules with large colonies of bacteria that quickly decompose “ammonia” (NH4 +) and nitrite (NO2). As a result, the time between water changes is significantly longer.

JUN Master Soil Brown Powder for planted Singapore aquascapes

The Brown Powder grade carries a warmer, more natural tone than the black version and is a favourite for nature-style and Iwagumi layouts where the soil colour reads as soft earth rather than stark black. The fine powder grain suits foreground carpets and lets dwarf hairgrass and Monte Carlo runners knit in tightly. A 3L bag handles a 30-45cm nano; the 8L size covers a standard 60cm tank, the most common footprint in local HDB and condo setups.

Like all active soils it gradually pulls pH, GH and KH down, which pairs naturally with Singapore’s already soft, slightly acidic tap water and reduces the need for separate buffering products. That same trait makes it popular for shrimp keepers running Caridina species. Plan for a proper cycle, as fresh soil releases ammonia for the first couple of weeks; do larger, more frequent water changes early and hold off on livestock until readings settle. Fill the tank gently to avoid clouding the fine grains.
