JUN Plant Gravel (L) for Brighter Freshwater Layouts
The L grade Plant Gravel is a chunky roughly 15mm natural stone with rounded corners, made to brighten a layout and anchor larger plants without scuffing roots. It is popular for goldfish, medaka and Japanese-style freshwater displays where a bolder, rocky look is wanted. As an inert gravel it leaves water chemistry alone, which suits Singapore keepers who prefer to manage their soft tap water separately rather than have the substrate buffer it.
The big, rounded grain is forgiving to maintain: waste settles on the surface where a gravel vacuum lifts it easily, and the open spaces between stones resist compaction and stay oxygenated. It is less suited to fine carpeting plants, which prefer a smaller grain to grip, but established rooted species and crypts settle in well once their roots reach down between the stones.
