Flame Tetra Care for SG Community Tanks
The Flame Tetra is a hardy, peaceful schooling fish that brings a warm reddish-orange glow to a planted community tank. We recommend keeping them in a group of at least six or more, as a proper shoal settles them, deepens their colour and shows off the natural schooling behaviour that makes tetras so appealing. They stay small and undemanding, which makes them a sensible choice for first-time keepers building a community setup.
Flame Tetras suit Singapore conditions nicely. Our warm ambient temperatures mean many keepers run them without a heater, and the soft, slightly acidic water from local taps is close to what they prefer. As with all our livestock, condition tap water for chloramine before changes and acclimate new arrivals gradually by floating then slowly mixing tank water in, rather than tipping them straight in, which stresses fish and dulls their colour.
