When addressing Water Problem Solving issues
Taking a few minutes each week to maintain and monitor aquarium conditions is the key to a healthy aquarium. Tropical fish continually release ammonia into the aquarium through their gills, urine and solid waste. Uneaten food and decaying organic matter also add ammonia to the water. Even small amounts of ammonia stress fish; large amounts of ammonia will kill fish. Ammonia is the number one killer of tropical fish. The API® AMMONIA TEST KIT is mercury-free, salicylate test for fresh and saltwater fish. The AMMONIA TEST KIT tests ammonia levels from 0 to 8 ppm.For viewing the Instructions Booklet online click here or select the “Documents & MSDS” tab to the left.
Why an API Ammonia Test Kit Belongs in Every Singapore Fishroom
Ammonia is the first and most dangerous waste product to appear in a new tank, released continuously by fish through their gills and waste and added to by uneaten food and decaying matter. Even trace amounts stress fish, and a spike can wipe out a stocking overnight. This liquid API kit lets you read ammonia directly, which is exactly the visibility you need when cycling a fresh setup or troubleshooting sudden fish losses.
It’s especially worth keeping on hand in Singapore because our tap water is treated with chloramine, and using a dechlorinator that breaks the chloramine bond can briefly free ammonia into the water; testing confirms your conditioner and filter are handling it. In our warm 27-29C tanks the nitrogen cycle moves quickly, so we recommend testing every few days through a new cycle and after any heavy feeding, restocking or filter clean.
