Description
The API® KH TEST KIT tests fresh or saltwater aquariums for carbonate hardness (KH), and helps monitor water quality and prevent invisible water problems that can be harmful to fish and plants. Carbonate hardness stabilizes aquarium pH, and can be used to determine the proper dose of pH buffers.
Contains 1 test bottle, easy-to-ready instructions, glass test tube and color chart
API KH Test Kit for Stable pH in SG Tanks
Carbonate hardness (KH) is the unsung hero of a stable tank, it’s the buffer that keeps pH from swinging overnight. This single-parameter kit is the one we point keepers to when pH seems unstable or when they’re dosing CO2. With Singapore’s softer tap water, KH can start low, and in heavily planted or driftwood tanks it drains further, leaving pH free to crash, a common cause of unexplained fish stress in local setups.
Checking KH before adjusting pH saves a lot of trouble, since fighting a low buffer with pH-down products usually backfires. We recommend a quick KH reading whenever you set up a new tank, add lots of wood, or start CO2 injection. The kit works for both fresh and saltwater, the drop count is fast, and the compact glass vial and reagent bottle suit cabinet storage in an HDB or condo.
Pair it with the rest of our water testing and care range. Our GH vs KH guide and pH crash guide explain why KH is worth watching.
