Description
Micronutrients found naturally in seawater, despite their presence in trace amounts, have a huge impact on the lives of the inhabitants of coral reefs. Micronutrient deficiencies quickly lead to visible negative changes in the condition of the corals, so apart from regular water changes, it is worth taking care of additional supplementation.
Even though the exact effect of barium on the SPS corals condition stays unknown, research shows that it is quickly and regularly consumed by aquarium inhabitants. In heavily planted aquariums, especially aquariums dominated by SPS corals, barium supplementation based on water test results is recommended.
Helps maintaining proper concentration of barium
Developed to create conditions for corals almost identical to the natural ones
Especially recommended in tanks with a high consumption of micronutrients
Laboratory tested product
Created on the basis of many years of aquarium experience
Dosage:
1 ml increases the barium level by 0.005 mg/l (ppm) in 100 litres (27 US gal) of water. The recommended level of barium in aquarium water is 0.001 – 0.04 mg/l (ppm). Please remember, that maximum safe daily dose is 2 ml per 100 litres of water. If you need a higher dose, split it into a few days. We recommend dosage based on the ICP-OES tests results. Dosage should be based on microelements consumption. Note, that each aquarium is different and final dosage depends on the coral cast and individual aquarium needs. Both, deficiency and excess micronutrients will affect aquarium inhabitants, therefore dosage should be selected and modified on the basis of regular Aquaforest Lab water tests.
***You may find out whether your aquarium water contains harmful substances or needs supplementation through this AF ICP Test 1 and understand more about Aquaforest Lab for your corals.
Aquaforest Barium LAB for SG reef trace dosing
Barium is one of those trace elements most hobbyists never think about until their SPS start looking flat despite textbook alkalinity and calcium. We carry the Aquaforest LAB line because it is built around precise, single-element dosing for reefers who run ICP testing and want to correct specific deficiencies rather than blanket-dose a cocktail. The 200ml bottle is concentrated, so it lasts a long time on a typical home-sized Singapore reef.
This is a product we steer toward experienced keepers, not beginners. Trace elements like barium are consumed quietly by corals and coralline algae, and the only reliable way to know your tank needs more is to test, ideally via an ICP service, before you dose. Blind dosing single elements in a warm, fast-metabolising tank is where many problems begin, so measure first and add small corrective amounts.
It belongs with the rest of our water testing and care stock. To dose responsibly, read our reef trace elements dosing guide and our trace element deficiency guide before you reach for the pipette.
