Description

Product:
Salifert pH test kit is sufficiently accurate to monitor pH fluctuations of approx 0.2 pH units.
Our KH + pH Buffer allows fast and efficient correction of alkalinity.
The pH value can have a major impact on the growth of corals and calcareous algae and on many biological processes. The pH should not be allowed to fluctuate more than approx. 0.3 units during 24 hours and should preferably be kept between 8.0 and 8.2.
If the pH is too low then the cause may be a too low alkalinity and/or insufficient aeration.
A low pH can be corrected by improving aeration and by increasing the alkalinity to NSW (Natural seawater) value or upto approx 25% above NSW levels.

Note:
Keep out of the reach of children! Only for aquarium hobby use.
The use of protective gloves and eye protection is recommended.
Please read the instructions carefully before using the product.

Stabilising Reef pH with the Salifert Saltwater pH Profi Test

This Salifert saltwater pH kit resolves the small shifts that matter on a reef, picking up changes of roughly 0.2 pH units so you can hold the tank in its target range. In Singapore’s closed HDB and condo reef tanks, evening pH often drifts down as the household and tank respire in a sealed, air-conditioned room with limited gas exchange. Measuring it tells you whether low alkalinity or poor aeration is behind a sagging pH.

We suggest testing at a couple of points in the day, since reef pH naturally rises under lights and falls in darkness, and a single reading can mislead. If your pH runs low, improving surface agitation and aeration usually helps before you reach for any buffer, especially since chasing pH directly can destabilise alkalinity. Shake reagents, keep them capped away from light, and replace once expired.

See our water testing and care range, and our surface agitation guide, calcium and alkalinity stability guide and water parameters guide put the reading in context.
