How To Safely Add Fish To Tank

  2. Then transfer bag to float in aquarium for another 30 minutes
  3. Use a fish net to transfer the live stock by scooping it from the bag into the tank.

Note: Do not release live stocks together with the transportation water into tank.

Keeping Hill Stream Loaches in Singapore Tanks

Hill stream loaches are sucker-bodied bottom dwellers built for fast, oxygen-rich water, which is exactly what makes them a fussy pick in our climate. They genuinely struggle in the warm, still water common in many local setups. We keep ours in tanks with strong surface agitation and high flow, mimicking the rocky riffles they come from. If your room sits at the usual 28-29C, a fan or chiller helps, since these fish prefer cooler, well-oxygenated conditions than most tropical species.

They graze biofilm and algae off smooth stones and glass, so a maturing tank with established surfaces suits them far better than a brand-new sterile one. Bare or sparsely fed tanks leave them thin. We supplement with sinking wafers and blanched vegetables, and keep them in small groups so they settle and stay active rather than hiding. Smooth river pebbles and flat slate give them grazing area and the textured terrain they instinctively cling to during the day.

When you collect from us, acclimatise slowly, as these loaches are sensitive to sudden temperature and oxygen swings. Browse the full tropical fish range, and read our hillstream loach care guide alongside ideas for an aquascape hillstream river tank before setting up.
