Ludwigia Sp White for Contrast in Your Aquascape

A pale-toned Ludwigia like this one earns its keep by providing visual contrast, drawing the eye against the deep greens and reds of a typical planted layout. As a fast freshwater stem it takes up nitrate and other nutrients while it grows, supporting cleaner water, and its branching stems give fish and shrimp natural shelter to dart through and forage over. Massed in bunches it weaves into a fuller backdrop that adds genuine depth to a scape.

Keeping the lighter colouration showing comes down to bright, consistent lighting and steady nutrients; in dimmer conditions the plant tends to green up and slow down. Our local 27-29C ambient is workable, but the warmth pushes faster growth, so plan on regular trimming and replanting of the healthy tops. Replanting trimmed sections is also the simplest way to thicken a stand and fill gaps after a rescape.
