Selaginella Wildenowii for Paludarium Greenery

Selaginella Wildenowii is a vigorous spikemoss known for the faint blue-green iridescence of its lacy fronds under the right light. Like its relatives, we keep customers grounded: this is a terrestrial climbing plant, not a submerged aquatic, so it belongs in the land or emergent zone of a paludarium, riparium or large vivarium where roots stay moist and foliage breathes humid air. Submerge it and it will not survive.

Singapore’s climate suits it well, echoing the shaded tropical thickets it scrambles through in the wild. Plant it in damp, well-draining substrate, give it indirect light to bring out the iridescent sheen, and let it climb or trail over wood and rock. It grows quickly in warm, moist conditions, so trim it back regularly to keep it tidy and stop it overwhelming smaller companions nearby.
