Carpeting with Staurogyne Porto Velho in SG Tanks
Staurogyne Porto Velho is a compact, low-growing foreground plant we like for Singapore aquascapers chasing a lush green carpet up front. It is closely related to the well-known Staurogyne repens but stays neat and bushy, sending out side shoots that knit together into a dense mat. Plant the individual portions a couple of centimetres apart across the substrate so they fill in evenly rather than competing in one clump.
As a tissue-culture or potted plant, expect a short settling-in period as it converts to fully submerged growth, so do not be alarmed if a few starter leaves fade first. It carpets best with good light, CO2, and steady nutrients, and our soft local water gives it a friendly base once dechlorinated. In warm Singapore tanks, regular trimming keeps the lower layers from shading out and shedding, which protects the carpet’s density.
Browse it among our foreground-plants selection. Get it established with our carpet planting guide and Staurogyne repens care guide, and dial in nutrients using our EI dosing guide.
