TCulture Bucephalandra Maia for Singapore aquascapers

Bucephalandra Maia is a compact, fine-leaved variety that rewards close viewing, often showing subtle iridescence and tiny pale dots across its leaf surface under good light. As a Bornean epiphyte it belongs on hardscape, never in the substrate; we attach the rhizome to driftwood or lava rock with a dab of gel glue and let it root naturally. This water-column feeding habit means it thrives in the soft, lightly acidic tap water common across Singapore and needs no CO2 to do well.

It is a genuinely low-maintenance plant, but a slow one, so plan your scape around steady rather than rapid growth. In our warm 27-29C tanks, keep light moderate and maintain gentle flow over the leaves to stop algae and detritus settling on the slow-renewing foliage. Expect a little melt after planting as the rhizome adjusts to your water, after which new leaves push out reliably. Its small footprint makes it ideal for nano and HDB-scale tanks.

See more in our epiphytes range. Our Bucephalandra care guide walks through attachment, and our aquascaping super glue guide covers the cleanest way to mount these small rhizomes.
