TCulture Bucephalandra SK Dark for Singapore tanks

SK Dark is a deep, moody Bucephalandra whose near-black leaves give a planted scape real depth, especially when set against pale sand or lighter hardscape. Like every buce it is an epiphyte from Borneo, so the rhizome is mounted on driftwood or rock and left exposed rather than planted into substrate. Feeding from the water column, it slots neatly into the soft, slightly acidic tap water most Singapore keepers run and needs no CO2 to look its best.

As with the rest of the genus, patience is the key ingredient: buce grows slowly, and that measured pace gives algae time to settle in our warm 27-29C tanks, so keep light moderate and maintain gentle, consistent flow over the dark leaves. A little melt after planting is normal while the rhizome adjusts to your parameters, after which new leaves emerge from the rhizome tips. Its compact size and dark colour make it a striking focal accent for nano aquascapes.

See more in our epiphytes range. Our Bucephalandra care guide covers mounting and the melt phase, and our browning-leaves fix helps if the foliage starts to deteriorate.
