Dracaena Trifasciata for Paludariums and Wabi-Kusa in Singapore

Better known as snake plant, this Dracaena trifasciata is a tough, upright foliage plant we supply for paludarium, terrarium and wabi-kusa setups rather than for submerged aquarium use. Its stiff, architectural leaves add vertical structure above the waterline and tolerate the humidity of an enclosed scape well. Do not plant it fully underwater; the roots can handle damp, boggy conditions at a riparium margin, but the leaves need air to thrive long term.

It is famously low-maintenance, which suits busy hobbyists and offices alike. Position it in moderate to bright indirect light, anchor the roots in an airy, well-draining substrate, and avoid keeping the crown constantly waterlogged to prevent rot. Singapore’s warmth keeps it growing steadily year-round. Wipe dust off the broad leaves occasionally so they keep their clean look, and divide rhizomes once the clump fills out its space.
