Microsorum ‘Windelov’ tissue culture for Singapore scapes

Java fern ‘Windelov’ is the lace-leaf form, finishing each leaf tip in fine, finely branched fronds that give a soft, ornamental edge no other Java fern matches. We carry it as a tissue-culture cup, so it arrives clean and entirely free of snails, algae and pests, which makes it a safe choice for shrimp tanks and meticulously kept scapes. Attach the rhizome to wood or rock and it becomes a long-lived centrepiece.

Like all Java ferns it asks very little: low to moderate light, no CO2 requirement, and tolerance of Singapore’s warm 27-29C soft tap water once dechlorinated, so no heater is needed. The golden rule still applies, keep the rhizome exposed above the substrate or it will rot. Tissue-cultured stock looks delicate at first and firms up over a few weeks as it converts to submerged growth.
