Riccia Fluitans (Tissue Culture) for Bright SG Carpets and Walls
Riccia fluitans is a versatile liverwort we love for its bubbly, vivid-green texture and the way it pearls with oxygen under good light. Supplied as clean tissue culture, this cup is free of pests and algae, an excellent start for Singapore aquascapers. Naturally a floating plant, riccia is most often tied or netted onto stones and wood to form a glowing low carpet or a textured wall.
Because it has no true roots, attachment is everything: hobbyists tie it down with fine thread or mesh until it grips, then trim it short to keep the mat tight and prevent loose pieces breaking free. It shows its best colour and that prized pearling with strong light and CO2. In our warm 27-29C tanks it grows steadily, so plan on regular trimming to stop it lifting away.
Keep flow gentle near the carpet so detached fragments do not scatter across the tank. See our Riccia fluitans care guide and attachment methods, and browse more in our epiphytes selection.
