Rotala rotundifolia ‘Green’ tissue culture in Singapore

Rotala rotundifolia ‘Green’ is the workhorse background stem we recommend to almost every new aquascaper. It grows fast, branches densely into a full bushy backdrop, and forgives mistakes that would kill fussier reds. Supplied here as a TC cup, it arrives clean and free of snails, algae and pests, so it goes straight into shrimp tanks and carefully kept scapes without a quarantine worry.

The green form skips the demanding light and iron that the red variants need to colour up, which makes it ideal for moderate Singapore setups. Our warm 27-29C soft tap water suits it perfectly and needs no heater. It does grow quickly, so expect frequent topping; the upside is that those trimmings replant instantly to thicken the group, and its hungry roots help soak up excess nutrients in a new tank.
