TCulture Alternanthera Reineckii ‘Pink’ in Singapore Aquascapes
Alternanthera reineckii ‘Pink’ is a much-loved red stem plant whose purple-to-crimson leaves bring instant contrast beside green companions. Grown as a clean tissue-culture portion, it is pest and algae free and splits easily into small bunches for planting. We recommend it to Singapore aquascapers who want a reliable splash of colour without jumping straight to the fussiest red species.
For the deepest red give it bright light and an iron-rich fertiliser; with CO2 the colour and compactness improve noticeably, while lower-tech tanks keep it more pink-green. In our warm 27-29C water it grows steadily, so top and replant the colourful tips to thicken the group and avoid bare lower stems. Plant individual stems with a little space so light reaches each one, and expect some initial leaf drop as the tissue-culture portion converts to submerged growth.
