Shrimp Guard: conditioning Singapore tap water for shrimp tanks
This conditioner is built specifically for crustacean tanks, neutralising heavy metal salts and easing the stress of transport, acclimation and water changes. That matters in Singapore because our tap water is chloraminated, and shrimp are far less tolerant of chlorine, chloramine and trace metals than hardy fish. Using a shrimp-targeted conditioner when filling a new tank or topping up keeps a sensitive colony from the slow attrition that wrecks beginner shrimp keepers.
Dose with each water change and when first filling a tank, treating the new water before it meets your shrimp. We pair this with steady drip acclimation for new arrivals, since shrimp react badly to sudden swings in temperature or parameters more than to any single number. In our warm 27-29C climate, keeping water clean and stable does the heavy lifting; the conditioner just removes the obvious tap-water hazards first.
