How To Safely Add Fish To Tank
- Set live stock aside with transportation bag in room temperature place for 30 minutes.
- Then transfer bag to float in aquarium for another 30 minutes
- Use a fish net to transfer the live stock by scooping it from the bag into the tank.
Note: Do not release live stocks together with the transportation water into tank.
Keeping Red Rainbowfish in Singapore Aquariums
The Red Rainbowfish (Glossolepis incisus) is a hardy, active schooler that thrives in our ambient 27-29C without any need for a heater, which makes it a sensible choice for community keepers across HDB and condo tanks. Males deepen to a striking brick-red as they mature, and that colour only really comes out when they are kept in a group of six or more in a roomy tank with open swimming lanes down the middle and planting around the edges.
On arrival, follow careful acclimation: rest the bag, float it to equalise temperature, then introduce tank water gradually before netting the fish across without the transport water. Our soft, slightly acidic tap suits them once conditioned, though they are tolerant of a wide range. Feed a varied diet of quality flake with frozen or live treats to maintain that red intensity, and keep the lid secure, as rainbowfish are confident jumpers.
Browse our other tropical fish, and plan their home using our rainbowfish care guide and rainbow fish display tank aquascape. New keepers should also read how to acclimate new fish.
