Cryptocoryne Albida ‘Brown’ in Singapore Aquascapes
Cryptocoryne albida ‘Brown’ is one of the easier crypts we recommend for hobbyists who want colour without the demands of high-tech stems. Its narrow, bronze-brown leaves bring a warm contrast to green carpets and make a tidy mid-ground clump. Like most crypts it is undemanding on light and forgiving of the soft, slightly acidic water that comes out of most Singapore taps once dechlorinated, which is why it settles in so reliably here.
Expect a settling-in period after planting. Crypts are famous for melting back when moved to new conditions, dropping leaves before regrowing from the root. Don’t pull the plant; trim the mush, keep parameters steady, and new submerged leaves emerge within weeks. A root tab tucked beneath each clump feeds the heavy root system and keeps colour rich.
If yours melts, our melting cryptocoryne fix walks you through recovery, and the albida care guide covers placement. See more greenery in our live plants category.
