This dwarf form has smaller, rounder leaves than the species, and is a fantastic complement to the foreground of larger aquariums and Nano Cubes.
Compact growth is assured with a good supply of nutrients, sufficient CO2, and adequate light.
Offshoots can be cut and replanted at any time. This produces a lovely space full of these attractive mini Lobelias.

Lobelia cardinalis ‘Mini’ Care in Singapore Planted Tanks

We carry this dwarf Lobelia cardinalis for scapers chasing the small, round, fresh-green leaves that make such a tidy foreground in nano cubes and the front of larger layouts. It is a stem plant rather than a true carpeter, so you plant individual stems close together and let them branch into a low, bushy cluster. The compact habit and gentle green tone pair well with darker midground plants and mosses in a Singapore aquascape.

To keep growth compact and dense, this Lobelia rewards good light, an adequate CO2 supply and steady nutrients; without CO2 it grows slower and taller. In our warm 27-29C tanks it does not need a chiller, but stable conditions matter for tight, even growth. Trim the tops regularly and replant the cuttings to thicken the patch, since offshoots root readily and quickly fill a foreground with neat little Lobelias.
