Description
Info
The beautiful Ludwigia inclinata var. verticillata is native to Central America and is one of the most colorful stem plants. The emerse growth form is very compact and pure green. In optimal conditions the plant in the submerged form is a “firework” in the aquarium. In order to admire this, some parameters are necessary such as soft water, a balanced diet, as well as a high amount of CO2. With an Intense lighting it produces beautiful shades of orange-red to violet-red.

Ludwigia inclinata var. verticillata Care in Singapore
This is one of the most spectacular stem plants we stock, often nicknamed for the firework-like burst of colour it produces under ideal conditions. The emersed pot form arrives compact and green, but submersed and pushed hard it develops whorled, pink-to-red foliage that becomes a centrepiece. Divide the potted clump into single stems, plant them in a tight group toward the rear, and give them room to climb toward the light.
Be honest with yourself about the demands: this plant rewards effort. It wants soft water, which our dechlorinated tap leans toward, plus generous CO2, strong light, and a balanced fertiliser routine to colour up properly. Without those, it grows green and leggy. In our warm Singapore tanks the metabolism runs fast, so trim and replant tops frequently to keep the group dense and the colour concentrated at viewing height.
Our Ludwigia inclinata var. verticillata care guide details the high-tech setup, and our aquarium CO2 guide covers dosing. Browse more demanding stems in our background live plants range.
