Keeping Blue Diamond Discus in Singapore
The Blue Diamond is one of the cleanest, most striking solid-colour discus strains, and it does well for us in Singapore because our ambient 27-29C sits comfortably in the discus comfort band, often without a heater. We grow ours on regularly so they arrive with good body shape and that even pastel-blue sheen across the flanks. As with all discus, they are shoaling fish that settle fastest when kept in a group rather than singly or in pairs.
On arrival, acclimate slowly and quarantine before adding to an established display, as discus are sensitive to sudden parameter swings. Singapore tap water is soft and slightly acidic, which suits them, but it carries chloramine, so always dechlorinate. Stable, clean water with frequent changes matters far more to colour and health than chasing exotic numbers. A bare-bottom or lightly scaped grow-out tank keeps maintenance simple while they mature.
