Description
Micranthemum ‘Monte Carlo’
Micranthemum tweediei ‘Monte Carlo’ originates from Argentina.
It has compact, round and fresh light green leaves on creeping stalks and creates a fast-growing carpet in the front of the aquarium.
The plant can grow in light shadow, but requires good light conditions, as well as CO2 additive, in order to develop optimally and become really compact.

Micranthemum ‘Monte Carlo’: A Popular Carpet in Singapore
Monte Carlo is the carpet plant we sell most to aquascapers chasing that fresh, light-green foreground lawn. The round, creeping leaves spread quickly across the substrate and, with good light, lie flat into a tight mat. It is a touch more forgiving than HC Cuba, tolerating a little shade, which makes it a sensible first carpet for hobbyists stepping up from low-tech tanks here in SG.
For the most compact growth it really wants strong lighting and CO2 injection; under weaker light it tends to grow taller and looser. Our warm 27-29C water is fine for it, though stable conditions and a nutrient-rich substrate matter more than chasing temperature. Trim it regularly once established to encourage horizontal spread and to stop the lower layer from going leggy and detaching.
See more options in our foreground plants category for companions to a Monte Carlo lawn. Our Monte Carlo plant guide covers establishment and trimming, and if you are starting it emersed for a faster fill-in, the dry-start method guide is well worth following.
