Levelling substrate with the ANS PRO Tools sand flattener

This stainless flattener is for shaping substrate cleanly, smoothing sand foregrounds, levelling soil beds and pressing in the gentle slopes that give an aquascape depth. The 330mm length reaches across most home tanks, and the dual wide and narrow ends let you flatten open areas quickly or work into tight corners and between hardscape without disturbing the rest of the layout. A flat, even foreground is one of the quiet details that separates a tidy scape from a messy one.

It is especially useful during the dry-start and initial planting stages, when you are terracing soil to create a front-to-back rise and want crisp transitions before flooding. Rust-resistant steel matters here because our humidity punishes any tool stored damp, so wipe it dry after each session and it will keep its finish for years.
