Description
Limnophila sessiliflora is a robust, highly adaptable plant able to cope with a wide range of environmental conditions (pH 5.5-8, temperature 22-28°C). Its likeness to some Cabomba species makes it a coveted aquarium plant, as its light requirements are considerably lower.

Limnophila Sessiliflora (Pot): An Easy SG Background Stem
We recommend Limnophila sessiliflora to hobbyists who want a Cabomba-like feathery backdrop without the demanding light. It is robust and highly adaptable, coping with a wide pH range and growing very fast, which makes it one of the more forgiving background stems we stock. In Singapore’s warm 27-29C tanks it thrives fully submerged without a chiller, and its low light tolerance means it suits modest setups as well as high-tech scapes with strong illumination.
Because it grows so quickly, it is a useful nutrient sponge in newly planted tanks, helping outcompete algae while the system settles. Plant stems spaced apart for flow, and expect to trim often; replant the cut tops to thicken the stand. CO2 is optional but speeds growth and tightens the form. Our chloraminated tap water suits it once dechlorinated, and even moderate lighting keeps the fine foliage healthy and full from base to tip.
It is a dependable starter background plant and a strong early-cycle ally. See our cycling with plants guide and stem trim and replant guide, with more under background plants.
