Carefully take the plant out of the cup and rinse off the growing media under the tap.
Split the plant in 6-8 portions using your fingers or sharp scissors (for small foreground plants).
Plant portions into the substrate using tweezers. Then watch them grow!

Rotala ‘Vietnam H’ra’ for Orange Carpets and Cushions

‘Vietnam H’ra’ is one of the more versatile rotalas we stock, because how you grow it changes what it becomes. Under strong light with good CO2 and feeding it creeps low and turns a warm orange, letting you build a dense midground cushion or even an unusual orange foreground. Ease off and it behaves more like a conventional stem plant. That flexibility makes it a favourite for hobbyists who like to experiment with a single species across a layout.

In Singapore’s warm tanks this plant grows readily, and the narrow leaves respond quickly to your light and nutrient levels, so it is a useful visual gauge of tank health. The soft tap water here is no obstacle. As with most fine-leaved rotalas, frequent gentle trims encourage the creeping, branching habit that gives you that carpet effect rather than a thicket of tall stems.
