How To Safely Add Fish To Tank
- Set live stock aside with transportation bag in room temperature place for 30 minutes.
- Then transfer bag to float in aquarium for another 30 minutes
- Use a fish net to transfer the live stock by scooping it from the bag into the tank.
Note: Do not release live stocks together with the transportation water into tank.
Golden Torpedo (Roseline / Denison Barb) at 3-4″
The Golden Torpedo is a colour form of the Roseline or Denison Barb, an active, torpedo-shaped shoaler that powers through open water in a glittering pack. At 3 to 4 inches these are well-grown specimens, and they are emphatically not nano fish; they are fast, social and need a long tank with strong swimming length. We always advise keeping at least six together, as lone individuals become stressed and skittish.
These barbs come from cool, fast-flowing hill streams, so they prefer well-oxygenated water with good flow and appreciate the cooler end of the range. In our SG climate, where ambient sits at 27 to 29C, a roomy tank with strong circulation helps, and temperature-sensitive keepers sometimes run a chiller for them. Their adult size and pace mean a 4ft footprint is realistic, so factor floor loading and space in HDB or condo setups.
Acclimate gently and stock a full group. Explore the wider barbs range, read our Denison barb care guide and red-line torpedo barb care, and follow our acclimation guide.
