Keeping Similis Corydoras in a Singapore tank
Similis is a charming dwarf-leaning Corydoras with a fine speckled pattern that we enjoy in smaller planted communities. Like all cories it is a shoaling fish, so we always send customers home with a group of six or more; a lone individual sulks and hides. They spend their day working the substrate, which is why a soft sand bottom matters far more than gravel that can wear down their delicate barbels over time.
Our warm 27-29C water sits comfortably for them, and the soft, slightly acidic tap water here suits the genus well, though steady parameters matter more than chasing numbers. They are gentle and peaceful, fine with small tetras and shrimp, and appreciate a sinking food they can forage at leisure. Acclimate them slowly by floating then drip-mixing, as cories dislike abrupt changes after a bag journey across town.
