Sinking Cichlid Gold is the colour-focused counterpart to the herbivore Excel formula, aimed at bringing out the natural brilliance of cichlids and larger tropical fish. The small sinking pellet size suits a broad range of the cichlids kept in Singapore, from peacocks and haps to medium American cichlids that feed mid-water and lower rather than at the surface. It works well as the everyday staple where colour is the priority for a display tank.
Colour enhancement comes from the diet’s pigments working alongside good genetics, lighting and clean water, so we frame it as one part of the picture rather than a guarantee. In our 27-29C tanks cichlids are bold, hungry feeders, so portion to a few minutes of eating and skip the occasional day to keep waste down. Match this to your fish’s mouth size, as a pellet that is too small gets inhaled wastefully by a larger cichlid.
