What we use the ANS Blue Flexible Hose for

This flexible blue hose is one of those quietly useful items we keep recommending for everyday tank work in Singapore homes. At roughly 120cm it is long enough to reach from a tank on a cabinet down to a bucket on the floor, and the two different end diameters let it slip over a range of taps, pump outlets and gravel-vac fittings. The soft wall coils for storage in a small HDB store cupboard and straightens out again without permanent kinks.

We mainly reach for it during water changes and draining, where a kink-resistant hose makes siphoning out tank water far less of a wrestle than a stiff tube. It also handles top-ups and directing flow when you are rinsing media in a basin. Because our tap water carries chloramine, remember to dechlorinate any new water before it goes back, regardless of how you move it.
