ANS Opti Glass CO2 Checker Reagent and Colour Chart Explained
This reagent is the working fluid behind your drop checker, and we restock it often because hobbyists here go through it. Combined with a 4dKH reference solution, the bromothymol indicator shifts from deep blue down to a clear lime-green as carbon dioxide accumulates in the bulb. The bundled colour chart gives you a printed reference so you are matching against a fixed standard rather than your memory of last week’s hue.
Reagent fades over time, and in Singapore’s warm, brightly lit tanks it ages a little faster, so we suggest refreshing the solution every two to three weeks for an honest reading. Always read the colour a couple of hours after injection starts, never first thing in the morning when CO2 has off-gassed overnight. Blue means too little, yellow warns you are pushing too hard and risking your livestock.
