Cryptocoryne wendtii ‘Green’ for beginner SG aquascapes
If we had to name one plant for a first planted tank in Singapore, green wendtii would be high on the list. It is genuinely beginner-proof: robust, adaptable, and content in low-tech setups without pressurised CO2. Whether you cluster it in a nano cube or spread it as a low cushion in a larger display, it delivers reliable green growth that stays more compact under brighter light, making it forgiving of varied conditions.
Our ambient 27-29C means most hobbyists run it heaterless. Bed it into a nutrient substrate, add a root tab, and resist replanting once it anchors, since crypts draw food through their roots and dislike disturbance. A short bout of melt after transfer is normal while it converts to submerged leaves and adjusts to your tap water; trim the mush and let it recover undisturbed, then it spreads steadily by runners.
