Growing Bucephalandra Pink Lady in Singapore
Pink Lady is a sought-after buce for the pink-to-bronze flush on new leaves, and like all bucephalandra it’s an epiphyte, so you attach it to hardscape rather than planting it in substrate. We sell plenty to local scapers because it’s slow, tough and thrives in our soft, slightly acidic tap water without demanding high light. Tie or glue the rhizome onto driftwood or stone and leave that rhizome exposed so it doesn’t rot.
Expect a settling-in period: a few older leaves may melt before new growth in tank-adapted form appears, which is normal and no cause for alarm. Modest light keeps the colour without inviting algae onto those slow-growing leaves, and gentle CO2 deepens the tones. In our warm tanks, steady, gentle flow keeps detritus off the foliage.
