Using ANS Java Coral Wood in Singapore Aquascapes

Java Coral Wood has a dense, gnarled branching structure that reads beautifully in nature-style and river layouts. Because every piece is unique, we suggest selecting your size against your tank footprint first: the S pieces suit nano cubes and HDB desktop tanks, while the XL works as a single dramatic focal anchor in a 90cm display. Its many crevices give shrimp and small fish secure cover, which matters in our warmer 27-29C rooms where livestock seek shade.

Like most hardscape wood, fresh Java Coral leaches tannins and may develop a harmless white biofilm in the first weeks. We recommend a long soak or boil to waterlog dense pieces so they sink without weighing, and to speed tannin release. In Singapore’s soft, slightly acidic tap water the light tea tint settles naturally, though regular water changes or activated carbon clears it faster if you prefer crystal-clear water.
