At 50-63cm the XL grade is a centrepiece branch for four-foot and larger tanks, the kind of single dramatic piece that defines a whole scape. With wood this big, weight and balance matter: dry-fit it against your stones and confirm it sits stable before flooding, and check your stand and floor can take the combined load, a real consideration in condos and HDB units where tank size meets floor-loading limits.

A branch this large floats stubbornly and can take weeks to fully waterlog, so we usually pin it with a heavy base stone or screw it to a hidden slate plate rather than boiling it. Expect a stronger first tannin release given the surface area; soak it in a tub beforehand if you want a clear display from the start. Early biofilm in our warm tanks fades as the system matures and grazers move in.
